A wardrobe box is a tall carton with a rail across the top. Your hanging clothes go straight from one wardrobe to the box, and out the other end still on their hangers.

The one box people skip and then regret, because the alternative is your whole wardrobe folded into bags.

How many wardrobe boxes do you need?

Roughly one for every metre of hanging rail. A normal single wardrobe is usually one box and a shared double is usually two. Coats and suits are what these are really for — anything foldable is cheaper in a large box than in a wardrobe box.
